Getting here

Birmingham is the second city of the United Kingdom, with a total of 1.1m inhabitants. Therefore, many travel options are available.

By Rail

Birmingham is serviced by two main rail-stations, Birmingham New Street (BHM) and Birmingham Moor Street (BMO). You can plan your train journeys using National Rail Enquiries or The Trainline. We advise you to book your rail travel, if needed, in advance to get the best travel rates.

Birmingham New Street is a 15 minute walk from the University (0.7 miles) and walks past Moor Street. View directions on Google Maps.

Birmingham Moor Street is a 10 minute walk from the University (0.4 miles). View directions on Google Maps.

By Air

Birmingham International Airport (BHX)

Birmingham International Airport (BHX) is located a few miles from the city centre. There is a direct, high-speed train from the Airport (Birmingham International, BHI) which takes ten minutes to arrive at Birmingham New Street. You do not need to book an advance ticket for this section and will cost you £3 to £4 depending on the operator. From there it is a 15 minute walk to the University, view walking directions on Google Maps. Official Taxis can be taken from the airport, but these will take the same amount of time.

East Midlands Airport (EMA)

East Midlands Airport (EMA) is located near Derby and is a few hours away by train. After the airport, you can take the Skylink bus to Derby train station, where an intercity train can be taken to Birmingham New Street. National Express busses can also be taken which are significantly cheaper.

London Heathrow (LHR)

London Heathrow (LHR) is a major international hub location out to the west of London. It may be worth checking for a layover in Amsterdam, Paris or Dublin and continue a flight to Birmingham International. However, if you must fly to London Heathrow, the best route of travel to Birmingham is the National Express busses. These will take you straight to Birmingham Coach Station in the city centre from all of the London Heathrow Terminals. Flexible tickets can be purchased. Visit the National Express website for further information.

By Coach

National Express Coaches can be taken from all over the country to Birmingham, terminating in the Birmingham Coach Station. Visit the National Express website for further information. The station is a 15 minute walk from the University (0.6 miles). View directions on Google Maps.

By Road

If you wish to drive to Birmingham, make sure you book your parking in advance. Parking is very limited at the city centre campus due to HS2 construction works. You can book parking in nearby NCP or Q-Park schemes for your vehicle. Hotels may also offer parking if needed.
